Source: BloodScan Viewport Enters Private Beta
BloodScan Viewport is now live at viewport.bloodscanbiotech.com. It is currently in private beta with laboratory partners, and will open to authorised partners shortly.
Viewport is a desktop application for finding and classifying circulating tumour cells (CTCs) in multi-channel fluorescence microscopy scans of blood samples. Classification reads three channels together: DAPI for the nucleus, CD45 for the leukocyte surface marker, and CK (cytokeratin) for epithelial or tumour origin. A CTC is CK-positive, CD45-negative, with an intact nucleus. A fourth marker channel, such as PD-L1 or HER2, is supported, and tallies are counted per cell: a four-cell cluster called positive contributes four positive cells.
Detection sweeps the full scan in the background while the analyst classifies the tiles already finished, so there is no wait for batch processing to complete. Analysis stays on the local machine, Nikon .nd2 files are read directly, and reviewed cells are exported as images and statistics.
As the detection models continue to improve, identifying candidate cells will become steadily more automated, reducing the burden of reviewing every tile by hand. The final call remains with the analyst.
Partners interested in access can join the waitlist on the Viewport site.
